Editorial – Richard Pitt

This will be my last edition as editor of the journal. Over 10 years have passed since the 1st edition of the journal was produced, where I shared the editorial duties with Premananda Childs. Since then, I have focused on producing two issues a year, often with long “New Yorker” style articles, reflecting a desire to produce a more literary homeopathic journal that also explored other areas of health. But having left California eight years ago and now living in Africa – as I sit here now surrounded by mosquitos at dusk – it is time to move on and allow the journal to move into a new direction.

Message from the CHMS President – Kathleen Scheible

With this edition of the Journal, we paint a picture of what it’s like to practice homeopathy in the state of California today, from a range of practitioners’ perspectives. With regards to the California Homeopathic Medical Society, we are in building mode. We have revamped our Membership fees and benefits, and we will be retooling the California Homeopath journal after ten years with Richard Pitt at the helm.

California’s Health Freedom Law: 14 Years Strong – John Melnychuk

On September 23, 2002, history was made in California. With the unanimous support of the legislature, Governor Davis signed into law SB-577 (2002), sponsored by the California Health Freedom Coalition (CHFC). As of January 1, 2003, California law recognized the professional legitimacy of alternative and complementary health care practitioners and healers allowing them, for the first time, to be able to legally provide and advertise their services in California.
